As professional divers, we’re fully aware that our industry isn’t always environmentally sound. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to ensure that Brass Hat operates as responsibly and sustainably as possible.

Proud to be “Bag Shy”

In commercial diving, “bag shy” is a term used to describe a diver who doesn’t want to get into their suit — their “bag.” We’ve taken that phrase and given it a new meaning.

At Brass Hat, we are literally Bag Shy because we’ve committed to avoiding plastics and other environmentally unfriendly materials in our packaging. Wherever possible, we use recycled, recyclable, and biodegradable materials to ensure our small-batch rums don’t come at the ocean’s expense.

Our motto says it best:

Our Sustainable Partnerships

We’re proud to work with like-minded companies that share our respect for the ocean and the planet:

• Springfield Solutions – our label producers, world leaders in innovative, sustainable digital packaging. With 96 solar panels powering their facility, they’re on track for carbon net zero and have already saved over 8,000kg of CO₂ in their first year of solar energy use.

• Flexi-Hex – creators of our protective bottle sleeves. Designed with the same love for the ocean that inspires us, their patented honeycomb paper design is completely plastic-free, recyclable, and biodegradable.

• Green-Paq – suppliers of our inflatable bottle protection. Made with 95% OXO biodegradable plastic, these sleeves are fully recyclable and carry a much smaller carbon footprint than traditional protective packaging.
